Communication protocols

In order to participate in a local energy market, individual households need to be able to monitor and control all their assets. This requires secure communication protocols between these assets, the EMS and the agent that orchestrates the household’s marketplace presence.

For the purpose of LEM participation, EEBUS and OCPP are the most suitable communication protocols. EEBUS can be used to control the behavior of photovoltaic systems, heat pumps, and storage batteries, while OCPP and especially OCPP 2 enable the management and scheduling of electric vehicle charging processes.
After being processed locally by the EMS, the data is forwarded via TCP/IP to the agent and corresponding offers are submitted to the market.
